From a base in Fort William you will be visiting some of the most beautiful places the West Highlands has to offer.
The walks will be of a moderate difficulty so is open to most people of reasonable fitness.
Lochaber and Glencoe is a fine area to explore on foot. Under my guidance we will explore stunning gorges paddle on unspoilt beaches and reach the heights on a mountain walk to finish the week.
We will visit a bothy to have lunch and clean up as much as we can in the time available doing our bit to help the volunteers who look after these invaluable shelters.
We will work a day with the Nevis Landscape Partnership learning new skills from path building to tree planting.
To help lessen our footprint and spread the joy we will clean up each car park we use at the end of the day.
Really an opportunity to enjoy the Highlands, learn new skills, meet new people and help the places you love.
The walks selected are all picked for the minimal impact we can have as a group. Promoting sustainable tourism and treading softly as we can.
Group size will be small at maximum 8 people
You can also lessen your environmental impact by catching the train or bus to Fort William.
Accommodation for the trip can be found on my accommodation page. Something to suit every budget
Below is the planned itinerary. It should be noted that it's subject to change due to weather conditions on the day. However the free day will remain the same allowing you to plan or book something for the day.
We will meet in the am for a chat about the week and an introduction to each other. We will spend the afternoon exploring the wonders of Steall Falls and Glen Nevis. The walk is around 5km round trip on rocky paths. It will take around 2-3 hours at a leisurely pace.
We will visit the National Nature Reserve at Creagh Meagaidh. Our walk will take us into the dramatic Coire Ardair with its beautiful lochan. The walk is on excellent paths and will take us around 6hrs including stops. Distance round trip is 12km with a gentle 430m of ascent.
We will have a easier day as we visit the stunning coast. In route we will visit the famous Glenfinnan monument and hopefully spot the Jacobite Steam Train. Our walk will be short visiting the stunning Camusdarach Beach. We will head back to Fort William early afternoon. This will give you a bit of free time to yourself to relax.
We will spend the day working with the Nevis Landscape Partnership in Glen Nevis or on Ben Nevis volunteering. The work could be anything from tree planting to path building to litter picking. During the day we will learn about the work they do and why it is so important.
This will be a free day and a chance for you to explore Fort William or catch the Jacobite Steam Train.
We will spend the morning walking into a mystery bothy looked after by the Mountain Bothies Association in the area. The plan is to have a nice lunch and then clean the place up. Doing our bit to help the volunteers who look after these invaluable shelters.
We will finish our trip together literally on a high. Heading down to Glencoe we will climb Buachaille Etive Beag. It's a fantastic ridge walk and a great introduction to hillwalking. We will even have the chance to bag ourselves 2 Munro's. The walk if both summits are included is 8km with 900m ascent.
Each night we will meet at one of the excellent local restaurants around 7pm. This will give us the chance to discuss our day and enjoy some local cuisine
Not included are food and accommodation costs as part of the trip. You will be expected to provide your own lunch and snacks for when we are out and about. A table will be booked for dinner each night at 7pm or thereabouts. It's optional and can be decided as you go.
