Rock 'n' Roll is an athletic, competitive form of dance that originated from lindy hop. Choreographed and designed for performance, this is a very fast and physically demanding dance. Acrobatic Rock 'n' Roll requires skill and stamina and is a highly demanding activity, but there are non-acrobatic forms which are danced socially. Kicks and acrobatic elements such as lifts, throws, jumps and flips, are all characteristic of Rock 'n' Roll dancing.
