Remember how good school trips were, especially when they involved getting out of your comfort zone in crazy outdoor situations: sliding, jumping, crawling, climbing . . . ?
No . . . ? OK, fair enough, maybe these activities weren't for everyone. But imagine if they were optional, you could pick and choose from a range of tailored activities pitched at all levels, from crazy adrenaline fuelled leaps, climbs, abseils and slides to gently paddling along a calm, wooded watercourse, or simply chilling in beautiful, historic grounds with a freshly made cocktail?
Because how much better would those school trips have been if they'd included fantastic meals, freshly made cocktails, wine or beer available at every meal while you dip into or out of those activities, and a well-stocked bar run by a local microbrewery through the evening, serving a wide range of drinks including but in no way limited to their own craft ales with bands and DJs playing amazing sets. No-one telling you to get to bed by 10, to not drink or to keep out of each other's dorms?
Adventure Weekender is a new concept that allows you to enjoy these trips as they should have-you can be out doing crazy activities all day and then partying through the evening, or just pick those activities you know you enjoy and relax in the historic grounds of an 800 year old hall. It provides all the fun of those school trips, and so, so much more! Accommodation is dormitory style, but with your beds made for you. We want people to mix freely, so generally dormitories are mixed and you pick where you want to sleep, but for those who would prefer a smaller room or single-sex rooms, this can also be arranged.
Light cocktails can be served with breakfast if wanted, and wine is served at other mealtimes, with freshly made cocktails available through the day for those wanting to chill on site. Really though, we recommend pacing yourself, throwing yourself into whatever activities you choose throughout the day, all provided by highly qualified and experienced, local outdoor instructors and then really going for it at the party in the evening, with music provided either by a talented up-and-coming band with a DJ providing music into the night, or a DJ providing sounds all the way through.
So the ethos is fun and partying, alongside as many activities to take part in as you wish. This will include climbing (indoor and outdoor options available), high and low ropes courses (up in the trees or over water), Tyrolean traverses, caving, ghyll scrambling, indoor bouldering and cave tubes, canyoning and gorge walking, abseiling, canoeing, archery, games and problem solving challenges, music and craft-based workshops, bushcraft, survival skills and foraging. We have the expertise to provide many more activities, so just let us know what you most want to do!
