Hi, I’m Sandra – a Pilates instructor based in London and the South East. I was first introduced to Pilates in the 90s during my dance training at collage in London and later at Laban Centre dance school. Pilates had an important part in my dance training, in order to keep up with the stresses on the body and to keep it at optimum form. I fell in love with its principals, the precision, flow and results it brought.
My career took another path eventually and I had a family and became a graphic designer. However, Pilates is a passion of mine and throughout the years has remained a big part in my life, during pregnancies, recovery, deskwork and for general wellbeing and fitness purposes. Sharing my Pilates knowledge with family and friends came naturally and I loved doing it.
A few years ago my health took a turn and I was diagnosed with a rare form of Arthritis and I found myself re-evaluating my life. Turning to Pilates again to gain control of my own body, to maintain mobility, reduce my symptoms such as stiffness and pains. Never before has Pilates been this important to me and I truly believe it suits everyone regardless of gender, age, experience, fitness level or health issues.
I was recently diagnosed with a heart condition and while it can be seen as a curse of ill health, I see it as an oppurtunity to demonstrate even further that Pilates is for everyone. I get to work with clients who come to me with their own health issues, and together we go on a journey of self discovery and transformation.
With my personal experiences and passion for Pilates and people, I find so much pleasure in teaching it and helping others to achieve their goals. Becoming an instructor and returning to Pilates full time felt like ‘Homecoming’ and working closely with people fills me with joy!
