Aerobatics involves flying using stunt manoeuvres not used in normal flight. Aerobatics are performed in planes and gliders for training, recreation and sport. Skilled pilots roll and pitch their aircraft or spin vertically through the sky. Manoeuvres can be combined to form aerobatic sequences for entertainment or competition. Stunt flying by single aircraft or several in formation is most likely to be seen at air shows.
You'll need to be a pilot with several hours flying under your belt to tackle this extreme sport. After the first hour or so of instruction, you'll be introduced to stunt moves like spins, rolls and loops. These aerial acrobatics will improve your skills in all aspects of flying and make you a better pilot, whether you want to compete or fly as a leisure activity.
