Boxing is a sport where two people throw punches at each other with gloved hands. The aim is to weaken and knock down the opponent. Amateur boxing is both an Olympic and Commonwealth sport and also has its own World Championships. Boxing is supervised by a referee and the result is decided when an opponent is deemed incapable of continuing, is disqualified, resigns or is pronounced the winner based on the judge's opinion of their technique.
Boxing is a dynamic sport that teaches physical and mental discipline. It's fast, technical and gets you really fit. Boxing gyms develop people from beginners to an advanced stage - so, if you join, you won't be the only one who's never boxed before! Fitness classes that incorporate boxing moves and techniques, like Boxercise, are becoming more and more popular.
