Kabaddi is a team game in which players 'tag' others while holding their breath. Kabaddi is a full contact sport that originated in Ancient India. To win a point, a raider takes a breath, runs into the opposing half, tags a member of the other team and returns to his home half before inhaling. The raider will be declared 'out' if he inhales before returning to his side or returns without touching an opponent. The tagged defender is out if they do not catch or wrestle to the ground the raider who tagged them.
Kabaddi is a fun, outdoor, team game popular in South Asia with adults and children, boys and girls. There are many forms such as International rules, Sanjeevani, Gaminee, Amar and Punjabi. Kabaddi was also played by the British Army in India for fun and to keep fit and was brought to the UK by Indian and Pakistani immigrants.
