Athletics is a group of sports that involves competitive running, jumping, throwing, and walking. The most common types of athletics competitions are field events such as throwing Shot Put, Hammer, Javelin or Discus or jumping events such as High Jump, Long Jump and Triple Jump. Track events include sprint, middle and long distance running and hurdling. Away from the stadium, road running, cross country running and race walking are part of the athletics family of sports.
