Croquet is a game that involves hitting balls with a mallet through hoops. A basic croquet set is six hoops or wickets, one peg, four mallets and four balls. There are several varieties of the game. Golf Croquet is the fastest growing version of the game because of its simplicity and competitiveness. Garden croquet and American Croquet are six wicket games but there are also nine wicket versions. Ricochet croquet has similar rules to garden croquet while Association Croquet is an advanced game played at international level.
Croquet is a fun, competitive outdoor game that can be played at any age and where men and women play on equal terms. It's not expensive - if you join a club, you might want to buy your own mallet, but that's about it. Best of all, Croquet is a fair contest - a handicap system allows a beginner to play against an expert with a fair chance of success.
