Snooker is a cue sport played on a table covered with a green baize. The table has pockets at each corner and in the middle of the long side it has cushions. It is played using a cue and 22 balls. Points are scored by knocking the balls into the pockets in the correct sequence. Variants include: American Snooker, which is simpler; Power Snooker, which uses 9 reds; Sinuca Brasileira, a Brazilian version with only one red ball and Snookball, a combination of snooker and association football played on an oversized snooker table.
Whether you choose to play competitively or socially, snooker will get your brain working! You'll need precision and concentration and it will improve your hand-eye coordination. Anyone can play regardless of age, gender or ability and it's not an expensive sport to get into. The aim of snooker is to pot coloured balls in one of the six pockets to score points.
