Tenpin bowling is a sport where a bowling ball is used to knock down pins. The player rolls a ball towards ten pins at the end of a lane made of wood or polyurethane with the objective of knocking down as many as possible. Three finger holes are drilled into a traditional bowling ball, and weights vary considerably to make the sport playable for all ages. Professional tournaments are held all over the world but the sport is also played as a leisure activity by millions of people.
Bowling is a fun way to spend time with friends and its also a serious competitive sport. If you're a total beginner, you could try a bowling alley that offers lessons or has beginner leagues. You'll need special shoes that can be rented at the alley. Top tip - choose the right ball! As a general rule, a ball should be one tenth of your body weight. So, if you weigh 70kg, you should bowl with a 7kg ball.
